Ways to give
Give Online
Secure payments via Realm
You can donate through a secure third party, Realm. This platform accepts electronic funds transfer (EFT), debit, and credit cards at no additional cost to you. If possible, we ask that you use the EFT option as it is the lowest cost to the Cathedral. Additionally, donating monthly versus weekly is better for us due to a small transaction fee, which is charged regardless of the option you choose.
By Check
Mail a check to our P.O. box
Make the check payable to the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and mail the check to: P.O. Box 4141, Portland, Maine 04101. If you are donating to a specific program or cause, please indicate that on your check.
Retirement Funds
Assets in the form of retirement funds
If you are withdrawing a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from a retirement account, you can make your donation from your retirement account directly as part of your RMD.

Some people will have assets in the form of retirement funds to give away. 401k and 403b plans are established through tax-free funds, and tax is paid by the recipient upon withdrawal from the plan. If the recipient dies and there are leftover funds, those funds are subject to both income and estate taxes unless these funds are given to charity.

Stocks & Bonds
Donate stocks or bonds
If your stocks and bonds have appreciated in value, you might wish to consider donating them. Should the stocks have a low yield, and your need is for greater income, Saint Luke’s and the Diocese can help to arrange a gift partnership (like a charitable gift annuity) and avoid capital gain taxes plus provide an income. To donate appreciated stock, please follow these stock giving instructions.
